Customer reviewsWorx Fluid Warranty
This hedge trimmer burnt out on me in 8 months. I purchased it from Amazon October 2016 and it burned out June 2017. As I was using it to trim a ficus it suddenly began to slow down emitting a burnt smell out of the vent slits. It then stopped and would not work. I called Worx and found they no longer make the WG209 trimmer. They said they would replace it with a WG217 if I paid the shipping and handling. I told them there was nothing in my warranty documentation that I had to pay shipping and handling. They told me their warranty had changed since I made my purchase. I promptly informed them that a warranty has the force of a contract that cannot be changed subsequent to the purchase and they had to honor the terms and conditions of the warranty included with the tool. They reluctantly complied and said they would waive the shipping and handling charge just this one time. How nice of them to honor the terms and conditions of their warranty. In addition, their warranty DOES NOT state they can substitute a comparable trimmer. It says they will repair or replace with a new or reconditioned trimmer. Looking at the WG217 trimmer I saw that they frontloaded the motor to the front of the grip so now all the weight of the trimmer blade and motor is in front of the grip. The WG209 had the motor behind the grip, which helped balance the weight of the cutting blade in front of the grip, thereby giving the trimmer better overall balance. I m now stuck with a substitute trimmer which does not have the characteristics I originally purchased. I will not buy another Worx product because of this experience. I will go back to Black and Decker. At least their products last more than 8 months and you can get an exact replacement if you have a warranty issue. In addition the WG217 is about 1 pound heavier than the WG209, making it even more unwieldy.
