Becoming a fan of the new generation of electric tools after years of carburetor failures on gas tools. Really need someone to do a side by side comparison with Makita s two battery 36v model. This is a light duty unit that is OK, but slow on California wild grass. Have the feeling I should have spent the extra on the other model but no way to know. Need some kind of rating system. My current impression is that this unit is not as powerful as my cheap corded electric trimmer. But it is sooo convenient for small jobs and my 5 amp battery lasts for a long time. Two things that you can sometimes find is rpm and string size both of which might be helpful in determining cutting power. But it looks like this is another research project as I found my spool that came with .080 line is listed up to .105. When I up sized it seemed to do a better job Did discover one obvious comparison point, how large the cutting circle is The version I have is 11.75 inches and the 36v version is 13.75 . And to add reality, the gas powered units go up to at least 20 inches so now efficiency becomes a factor. Battery units quiet and no carburetor problems but can take almost twice as long to do same job
