Extremely sensitive detector... so much so that IMO, it is really only suitable for the beach. It will detect items much deeper in dirt than I d want to dig because a this detector like all PIs is extremely sensitive to tiny iron junk I found the striker wheel from a lighter under a foot of sand and it sounded like I had an aluminum can at 1 inch down and b a deep hole that is narrow and doesn t disturb the sod much is really hard to dig. And on that last item, this is really a detector that demands you dig everything... you can dial in some discrimination to reject the iron bits, but it ll reject stuff you want, and too, dramatically reduces overall sensitivity. So, I only have the patience to dig everything in the sand...
