Customer reviews
Intermittent power deliveryI had an older Kawasaki 18V Drill that won t hold a charge any more. So I was looking forward to get into the premium lines of power tools. After seeing a number of YouTube videos, it seemed to me Milwaukee has better build quality but also pricier and is not sold directly by Amazon. So, at 99, this brushless drill seems to be plenty powerful and a great deal for my DIY purposes. First time using it, I was driving cement board screws into a hardie board, a job even my old Kawasaki drill handled with ease. For some reason, the power of this dewalt drill keeps cutting off. If I let go the trigger and squeeze again, it would work, and it may or may not drive the screw home before the power cuts off again. For every screw, I needed to pull the trigger between 1 to 4 times. For a brand new tool, this is just unacceptable. Also, the power transition between slow and fast speed is very abrupt. You pull the trigger in little by little , the drill is turning slowly then suddenly the fast speed engages. There is no transition. This makes delicate work very difficult. Very easy to strip the screw. I ended up buying a brushed Milwaukee drill which did not have this problem. I am sure I got a lemon. Thousands of Dewalt lovers out there cannot be all wrong. I can only speak from my experience.
