Customer reviewsGood but not a miracle worker
This is my first electric hedge trimmer. It sure beats using a manual clipper, but I do wish it handled thicker branches a bit better. My hedge in the front of the house is about fifteen feet long and was about six feet tall and three to four feet wide. I used the hedge trimmer to take a couple feet off the top. Here are the things I like about the Black and Decker trimmer. I like the twenty-four inch cutting blade because you can cover a lot of ground fairly quickly and definitely would not buy a shorter blade. The unit is light and has a comfortable handle that rotates for vertical and horizontal cuts. The fact that it is electric is probably more good than bad. Batteries are expensive, don t last, and are typically under-powered. However, I did end up pulling the cord loose a few times and it took a few a little bit of getting used to. My biggest complaint is that it really struggles on branches half an inch or thicker in diameter. Going slow and trying to let the trimmer do the work didn t always work so well. The trimmer would get choked up on the thicker branches and you would have to pull it loose and go at the branches from a different direction. I oiled the blade and that didn t improve its effectiveness on the thicker branches. I expected the trimmer to handle half inch branches better. The motor did heat up a bit, but I didn t see any sign of over-heating. Overall I am pleased with the trimmer, but it is not the miracle worker I was hoping for.
